Frequently when exotic patients become ill, it is related to
their care: what they are being fed, how they are being housed, how
much exercise they are allowed, or how much supervision they are
given. Our staff is knowledgable about the husbandry and
nutritional needs of exotic species. If you are considering
getting an exotic pet, we would be happy to consult with you
about what your pet will need.
Some exotic patients are presented for
behavioral problems such as biting, screaming, and
feather picking. Some of these problems can
be prevented or controlled using environmental enrichment
or behavior modification techniques. Toys, special treats,
games, even a radio or television can greatly enhance your pet's
life.
If you would like to make an appointment for your exotic pet,
you may call our office or fill out the appointment request form
available on this website. Please bring as much information
as possible on your pet including age, previous medical
history, current and previous diets and housing information.
If you have other exotic pets, our doctors may need information on
them as well.
